How to Offline Update ForgeOS

Offline updating requires you to first download the new ForgeOS version to a USB flash drive.

Once you obtain an update file from READY Robotics and download it to a PC, copy it to a USB flash drive.

ForgeOS update files are large. We recommend for you to use an ex-FAT-formatted USB with at least 8GB of available space.

Once the transfer completes, safely eject the USB from your PC. Early removal of the USB drive can corrupt the data transfer.

Insert the USB drive into the Forge IPC. You may have one of these IPCs:

  1. Forge/Ctrl
  2. Forge/Hub
  3. Other IPC

In the Settings app, select System Update.

In the Update from USB tab, select the update. The update file(s) on the USB drive appear in a list under Available Versions.

Wait up to 25 minutes for the update to finish.

When the update finishes downloading, remove the USB from the IPC.

Tap RESTART NOW. Otherwise, close out of the pop-up for now and then later tap the power icon in the top-right corner of any of the Settings screens.

The update won't be applied until you restart ForgeOS.

When ForgeOS boots back up, sign in to the Admin profile.

Open the Settings app, then select System Information. Confirm that the ForgeOS Version and Pendant Version are up to date.

Some robot brands (such as the ones listed below) require you to update robot driver files each time you update ForgeOS:

  • ABB
  • EPSON
  • FANUC
  • Staubli
  • Yaskawa

If you don't update the robot controller with the new robot driver files, the robot might not behave as expected. Follow our "How to Update" Knowledge Base guide that corresponds to your robot brand.
